Dr. Nigel Crook

Dr. Nigel Crook joined HGI as a Senior Geophysicist in April 2011. Previously Nigel spent 5 years as a research associate in the Geophysics Department at Stanford University.  Projects include a nationwide effort to improve the integration of near-surface geophysics in hydrological academic research, as part of the NSF’s HydroGeoPhysics Facility effort. In addition, Nigel developed and managed the Shared Field Measurement Facility at Stanford University, providing geophysical support to the University for research and teaching requirements. This included teaching several field geophysics classes for the School of Earth Sciences and Archaeology Center. Nigel’s education includes a B.Sc.  Degree in Geology and Geophysics from the Durham University, England; an M.Sc. Degree in Archaeology from Liverpool University, England; and a Ph.D. in Environmental and Rock Magnetism from the Manchester Metropolitan University, England. He has nearly 20 years experience in the near-surface geophysics industry and academia.
