Oil & Gas

Although HGI’s primary areas of expertise generally involve the shallow subsurface, the methodologies readily extend to deeper targets.  An excellent example is HGI’s unique ability to monitor dynamic changes in subsurface fluid flow.  HGI’s leak detection technology has been used to monitor fluid flow in an oil reservoir during a surfactant test at the Rocky Mountain Oil Field Testing Center (RMOTC).  Test results confirm the ability of the methodology to detect the movement, direction, and rate of fluid flow at reservoir depths.  All measurements were made using the existing steel-cased wells as electrodes with no additional infrastructure required.  Such data are very useful for monitoring enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and require minimal effort to adapt to virtually any oil field.

HGI has also performed large scale gravity surveys for bedrock definition that are useful in conjunction with reflection seismic surveys and are particularly useful for characterizing salt domes and anticlines.

HGI can also design and monitor towed-array magnetic and electromagnetic surveys whether from fixed wing, rotary wing, or marine platforms. Such surveys require precise location information generally acquired using global positioning satellite (GPS) technology.
