hydroGEOPHYSICS, Inc. (HGI) is an innovative, solutions oriented geophysical consulting and service provider to the environmental, engineering, ground water, mining, oil & gas, and natural resource exploration industries. HGI provides subsurface imaging, using geophysical methods, to detect and map targets of interest and we specialize in the application of 3D geophysical methods for time lapse subsurface characterization and monitoring.

We are looking to expand our Tucson, Arizona and-or Richland, Washington offices by hiring an enthusiastic full-time employee for one or more of the following positions:  Staff Level 1 or 2, and-or a Senior Level Engineer, Scientist, Geologist, or Geophysicist (position and level dependent on prior experience). This position requires a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant geophysics experience preferably for a consulting company.  Knowledge of geophysical equipment, data collection methods, and data analysis software are required.

Office Location:  Tucson, Arizona and-or Richland, Washington

Education: minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Hydrology, Environmental and Earth Related Engineering or science discipline from an accredited university.  Degree must include advanced courses in math and physics – transcripts will be required.

Experience:  Minimum of 5 years relevant geophysical experience with fieldwork, data collection and analysis; 7 years or more is preferable. Experience with laboratory or scientific instrumentation and industry standard data analysis and visualization software.  Prior experience within a consulting company environment is desirable but not required.

Language:  English verbal and written required, bilingual English/Spanish is a significant advantage.


  • Travel: Enjoy travel, remote destinations, working outdoors with complex scientific equipment
  • License: Current and active driver’s license (experience driving a vehicle / trailer combination strongly preferred)
  • Citizen: United States Citizen with a current passport or ability to secure a passport if needed.  This employment opportunity requires government contracting.  Per government contract requirements, applicants must provide proof of United States Citizenship.
  • Computers: Strong background in computers and computer software
  • Organized: Organized and enjoy working independently or with a team
  • Problem Solving: Enjoy problem solving, making in-field repairs and can adapt to changing conditions
  • Electronics: Inclined to working with electronics and building new tools to streamline projects
  • Reporting: Excellent MS Excel and Word abilities and strong report/proposal writing capability
  • Field Surveys: Ability to complete and direct field surveys within some of the following geophysical disciplines: electrical resistivity, electromagnetics, GPR, magnetics, refraction seismics, reflection seismics, borehole geologic sampling/oversight, geologic / structural mapping, geochemical sampling, etc.
  • Visualization Software: Familiar with industry standard visualization software such as: Surfer, Voxler, AutoCAD, Rockworks, Geosoft, Tecplot, EVS, etc.
  • Analysis Software: Familiar with industry standard data analysis software such as: EarthImager 2D or 3D, Res2DInv or Res3DInv, MatLab, RADAN, Seisimager, Ekko-project, Geosoft Oasis Montaj, Interpex Suite, MagMapper, etc.

Travel:  Position requires 35 to 50% travel. Field projects range from two days to two months and requires extensive travel inside and outside the U.S.
